Chosen Family

After hearing about Fourth Street Clinic from his cellmate, Bobby made it a priority to come see us for pain management after being released from prison. “When you first get out of prison, you don’t have that much money at all. You [Fourth Street Clinic] have a lot of good people, and now I have a good place to come to. That’s commendable,” he says.

In the past, Bobby used heroin to cope with severe physical pain and the trauma he experienced while living unhoused. He explains that the stress of not having a home was a contributing factor to his addiction. “Suboxone is wonderful; I was in a viscous cycle,” he explains. “If your tests show up dirty, you’re right back in prison. So, I decided to search for ways to break the cycle and be somebody.”

Now, Bobby lives with his chosen family and has remained sober since his release and first visit to Fourth Street Clinic. He is committed to working toward stabilization through the substance use disorder treatment he receives from us and looks forward to spending his future with his family.
